Czechosyl0vakian Paratroopers

On the night of August 20–21, 1968, armies from five Warsaw Pact countries—the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, and East Germany—invaded the Czech Republic. That night, 200,000 Warsaw Pact troops and 2,000 tanks entered the country. The troops first occupied the Ruzyně International Airport, where air deployment of more troops was arranged. The Czech forces were confined to their own barracks and were surrounded until the threat of a counter-attack was assuaged. By the morning of August 21, Czechoslovakia was occupied. Ending what had come to be called the Prague Spring.

But it would be a mistake to underestimate the fighting spirit of the Czech soldier. Despite a long history of being on the wrong side of conquest, the Czechs have a reputation as tough warriors going back to the 13th century Hussites who would resist the power of Rome and usher in the accendacy of foot soldiers armed with fire arms over mounted knights. From the Hussites a direct line may be drawn to Czech Legions of the first and second world wars. It would be a grave mistake to underestimate these warriors INDEED!

During Fulda Gap 2009 the Czech Paratroopers will be lead by Dave "S1TH" Atkins of 42nd Legion. Last year the 42nd played a crucial role in the Warsaw Pact victory taking and holding several critical objectives. In 2009 they step up to take on core unit responsibilities.

The 42nd draws its legionaires from across Southwest Virginia and brings a true Mil-Sil approach to scenario paintball. Keep a sharp eye out for these hard hitters or you may never see them comming!
